Hair Transplant: Myths Busted
Hair Transplant Myths?
The cosmetic industry has been into providing the perfect look to uncountable numbers of mass since ages, and one of the most important fragments of this industry is ‘Hair Transplant’.
Hair, for an individual, is not the only identity to the persona but also the source of confidence. Although some amongst the hair losing mass can cope with the loss, whereas maximum tend to lose their self-confidence. Along with that comes a large amount of artificial hair customisation items which seems fun to try but may damage the hair in the long run. Hence there comes the point of hair transplant.
But there are many such ‘Myths’ which have spread due to the result of rumours, and have further forced people to gather up false terrors in their minds regarding this procedure. Here, we shall discuss some of these rumours which are nothing more than just speculations.
“No further treatment is needed to prevent hair loss after a hair transplant”
This well-known fact is not at all true. A hair transplant surgery cannot give the assurance of not having further hair fall. The only way this can be prevented is by medical treatment after the transplant which might comprise of various creams and ointments in the form of applications, and other such precautionary measures to correct the hormonal imbalances that could lead to suchincidents or cause further hair fall.
“Young men can overpass hair transplant better”
This is not the reality, instead it is just the opposite. People believe that the younger you are when you do a hair transplant, the better the long-term outcome. If you start losing hair at a younger age chances are that you may need more sessions of hair transplant to maintain the result. So it is always advisable to start with medical treatment in the early stages (oral medications and ointments) and opt for surgical intervention only when hair loss has stabilized which means at an older age.
“Hair transplant comes with an immediate result”
Factually, the roots of the hair don’t stop growing within three weeks, whereas the transplanted hair usually falls off. Once blood supply to the root is established, it lasts permanently. These roots usually start growing in about 60 days with the best growth being noticeable between the 9th to 12th months.
“Hair transplant surgery means you can get someone else s hair”
It might sound very romantic if your spouse or partner wants to help you by lending their hair to you, but in reality, only hair from your own body can be transplanted. If we tried to transplant hair from another person, your body would reject the foreign hair and only immunosuppressant drugs can stop that from happening. Immunosuppressants are not prescribed following a hair transplant. At present only major life-saving organs are being transplanted from a different person or cadavers, not hairs.
“Hair transplant is only for men”
This myth has been prevailing in this industry for quite a long time now. Since male pattern baldness is common so most people think that hair transplant is a men’s thing. But in reality, men and women both have different balding patterns and both might need hair transplant at one point of time or the other. The outcomes following a hair transplant look good in a woman as they have long hair
