Types of Hair Loss Problems in Men
Hair loss, scientifically called as 'Alopecia' or as we all call it baldness is a prominent problem which according to the survey, around 85% of men face. Let's discuss in detail the Types of Hair Loss Problems in Men.
Among the types of hair loss, the major one is men-pattern baldness (MHPL). It primarily affects the top and front scalp. This type of hair loss presents as a loss of hair on the crown of the scalp or a receding hairline. The major problem to be concluded for male-pattern baldness is because of a combination of genetics and dihydrotestosterone.
Types of Problems
Although male-pattern baldness has been the major worry for most men, there are also other problems that might affect men. Alopecia areata or called as spot baldness is the hair loss from some areas of the body. Often it causes bald spots on the scalp about the size of a coin. Another rare problem faced is called Telogen effluvium. Men baldness, which is the prevalent problem, can even begin in the teenage years. It will advance as ageing occurs and is usually more visible in adult men. Genetics is one of the major causes. Men who have close relatives with the male-pattern baldness are at high risk. MPHL has a psychosocial effect and is made to be perceived as older and less attractive, especially for young men suffering from it. Various classifications for MHPL have been proposed with various complexities. Male-pattern baldness has been majorly split up into two categories: less severe or “not bald” and more severe or “bald”. The less severe category includes type 1 to type 3 while the more severe category includes type 4 to type 6.
Causes
People naturally lose 50 to 100 strands of hair per day. Anything more than that is considered excessive hair loss. Men hair loss is mostly related to hereditary. Baldness resulting from family history often starts only as ageing occurs. Another cause which is also becoming common is hormonal changes and medical conditions. Medications and supplements used for major diseases like cancer, heart problems, arthritis, depression and blood pressure cause side effects like hair fall. Hormonal changes occur because of changing lifestyles and disturbing the normal body conditions due to lack of sleep, stress and eating unhealthy. Sometimes sudden weight loss or gain might also cause hair fall. It is important to know about the Types of Hair Loss Problems in Men as knowing about the causes and treatments.
