Skin Care Tips For The Great Indian Summer

Summer is here and so are the prickly sensations of sweat and humidity. So, we thought it would be good to list some basic skin care tips to keep your skin healthy and dewy this season! But remember that no amount of DIY hacks can help you with serious skin issues.

1. Hydrate Your Skin

Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing should be a mandatory part of your daily skincare routine. This keeps your skin hydrated and fresh. Also, moisturizing post-cleansing is vital as it reestablishes the outermost layer of the skin that’s most vulnerable to pollutants and irritants. Use mild, alcohol-free and pH-balanced products.

2. Moisturize But Don’t Go Overboard!

Wash your face with clean water twice daily. This keeps your skin sweat-free and clean and keeps acne, pimples, and other pesky skin problems at bay. Now, this heat may cause you to feel too dry and oily to the point that you feel like washing frequently but know that it is not good for your skin, at all! Too much washing strips your skin of natural oils, leaving it patchy and scaly-looking.

3. Apply Sunscreen

Dermatologists and experts have repeatedly stressed the fact that a broad-spectrum sunscreen must be applied on all exposed skin for protection. Sunscreen is a must to protect your skin against the harsh UV rays of the sun that causes, among other things, sunburn, wrinkles, and age spots. Use a gel-based, waterproof sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. Also, if you are going to be out for more than 3 hours, be sure to re-apply the sunscreen.

 4. Wear Light Makeup
